Wendy Jean-Bart
Miss Long Island 2009
Wendy is the reigning Miss Long Island 2009 and resides in Smithtown. She graduated from the College of the Holy Cross and majored in political science and minored in French and Studio Art. Wendy is now a third-year law student at Touro Law Center and the Managing Editor of the International Law Review. Wendy aspires to be an attorney within a fashion corporation and is currently a legal intern at H&M in-house Counsel. Wendy was also a summer associate at Travelers Insurance in-house counsel for the past two summers. Wendy began volunteering with the homeless at age 15. As a volunteer she has worked at various soup kitchens and has had the opportunity to do pro bono legal work for the homeless. Upon graduating from law school Wendy would like to use her law degree to continue to help the homeless. Wendy enjoys working out, traveling, cooking, art, music, and spending time with family and friends.
Samantha Forde
Miss Long Island Teen 2009
Samantha is thrilled to be Miss Long Island Teen 2009 because she believes that there are so many aspects of our community that are in desperate need of help. Her platform as this year's queen is to inspire others to ”Give Help Where Help Is Needed.” That every small contribution has the potential to equate to something much greater. Whether by planting a tree or through a simple act of kindness to inspire a smile; the world could be so vastly improved with the small efforts of many. As the reigning Miss Long Island Teen 2009 Samantha has been able to bring a voice to this concept on a local level. Samantha is a Senior at Smithtown High School East. She is passionate about any type of Music. Samantha is very active with her High School’s Elite Chamber Choir, and performs at various charitable and entertaining events. Samantha enjoys sharing her love for music with the younger members of St. Patrick’s Folk Group where she is a youth leader. Samantha is an avid horseback rider and outdoor enthusiast. She is currently active with many charities benefiting various causes, working on fundraising events.
