Hayley Riesel

Miss Long Island 2016

Filled with excitement and gratitude, Hayley Riesel could not be more proud to have been crowned Miss Long Island 2016. Growing up on Long Island her whole life, she is really looking forward to reaching out and getting involved in events all across the Island.

Hayley has a bachelors degree in Mathematics and will continue to work towards her masters in Education at Queens College. Hayley has always had a passion for math and helping others, so it is no surprise that she looks forward to becoming a high school math teacher to change lives and make learning math fun!

As a childhood cancer survivor it is especially important to her to raise awareness and funds to give back to the pediatric unit at Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center where she was treated. She hopes to be able to give back to her 'heroes'; the children who are still fighting their battle with cancer, and who helped her stay strong through her own journey.

In her free time Hayley enjoys outdoor activities such as running, kayaking, and going to the beach. Through fitness and eating healthy, Hayley hopes to set a good example and inspire others to lead a healthy lifestyle! She is excited to be a part of the Miss Long Island pageant family!

Brooke Demetri

Miss Long Island Teen 2016

Brooke is so honored to be crowned Miss Long Island Teen 2016 and is looking forward to an amazing year! She is grateful to have been given the opportunity to represent Long Island and be a role model for those around her.

Brooke will be a junior at North Shore High School this fall as an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She is academically driven, having received scholar of the month for English, Health, Science, and Mathematics. Brooke is working hard on her studies in hopes to achieve her goal pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor.

As Miss Long Island Teen, Brooke hopes to spread awareness about a serious illness that is affecting adults, teenagers, and children today, and to promote her platform, Eating Disorder Awareness. Brooke's campaign, The Healing Hope Project, encourages young men, women, and children to love themselves from the inside and out by promoting what she believes true beauty is: having self-confidence. Her ultimate goal is to bring hope to those suffering this illness in silence and to educate people across Long Island about the most overlooked illness that is affecting so many people today. Brooke wants to share her message that it is okay to be imperfect, as we all are in our own beautiful way!
